Thimphu, Paro and Punakha Tour Itinerary

Day 1
On arrival at NJP Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport, you will be received by the tour guide and begin the journey towards Phuentsholing, the gateway to Bhutan. The drive takes around 4–5 hours through the plains of North Bengal where you can see tea gardens, forests and small towns along the way. After reaching the Bhutan Gate, check in at the hotel and relax after the journey.
Day 2
After breakfast, complete the immigration and permit formalities and begin the scenic ride into the mountains of Bhutan. The road gradually climbs through forests, rivers and winding mountain roads, offering beautiful landscapes and fresh mountain air along the way. During the journey you will pass Chuzom, where the Paro and Thimphu rivers meet and three different style chortens can be seen. From here continue the ride towards the peaceful Haa Valley, one of the most beautiful and less explored valleys in Bhutan. After arriving, explore the valley and its traditional villages, enjoy the scenic mountain views, and visit the historic temples Lhakhang Karpo and Lhakhang Nagpo before checking in at the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3
After breakfast start the scenic ride from Haa Valley to Paro through the famous Chele La Pass, the highest motorable road in Bhutan at around 3,988 meters. The road passes through beautiful pine forests and colorful prayer flags while offering breathtaking views of the Himalayan mountains. After spending some time at the pass for photos and enjoying the scenery, continue the ride downhill towards Paro Valley. Upon arrival in Paro, visit the historic National Museum of Bhutan, which displays Bhutanese history, traditional art, ancient weapons and cultural artifacts. Later you may also visit the nearby Rinpung Dzong, one of the finest examples of Bhutanese architecture, before exploring Paro town and checking in at the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 4
After an early breakfast, start the hike to the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery, one of the most sacred and iconic sites in Bhutan located on a cliff about 900 meters above Paro Valley. The hike takes around 4–5 hours round trip through pine forests and mountain trails, offering beautiful views along the way. According to legend, Guru Padmasambhava flew to this site on the back of a tigress and meditated in a cave here, making it a very important pilgrimage site. After returning from the hike, you can relax at the hotel or explore Paro town and its local cafes and shops before enjoying a peaceful evening and overnight stay in Paro.
Day 5
After breakfast begin the scenic ride towards Punakha, passing through the famous Dochula Pass which is known for its 108 memorial chortens and panoramic Himalayan views. After spending some time at the pass, continue the ride downhill into the beautiful Punakha Valley. Upon arrival visit the stunning Punakha Dzong and also walk across the scenic Punakha Suspension Bridge before checking in at the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 6
After breakfast ride towards the beautiful Phobjikha Valley, one of the most scenic valleys in Bhutan surrounded by mountains and forests. The valley is famous as the winter home of the rare Black-necked Crane. After arrival visit the historic Gangtey Monastery and the Black Necked Crane Information Centre to learn about the cranes and the valley. Overnight stay in Phobjikha.
Day 7
After breakfast start the journey towards Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. The ride offers beautiful mountain views and forest landscapes along the way. After arriving in Thimphu visit the giant Buddha Dordenma which overlooks the entire valley and offers amazing panoramic views of the city. Later explore the town and enjoy the evening in the capital city.
Day 8
After breakfast explore the main attractions of Thimphu including National Memorial Chorten, the Motithang Takin Preserve where you can see Bhutan’s national animal, and the Simply Bhutan Museum which shows traditional Bhutanese lifestyle. In the evening visit the local handicraft market and explore the lively streets of Thimphu.
Day 9
After breakfast begin the return journey to Phuentsholing through scenic mountain roads and forest landscapes. Along the way you can stop at viewpoints and waterfalls to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. After reaching Phuentsholing check in at the hotel and spend the evening relaxing or exploring the local market.
Day 10
After breakfast, drive back to NJP Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport for your onward journey. The tour ends with wonderful memories of riding through the Himalayan roads, visiting ancient monasteries, and exploring the peaceful valleys and culture of Bhutan.
